When we let pets into our homes, they quickly and easily also find a place into our hearts. They become a part of the family. Whether it’s your cat that paws your head at 5 a.m. or your panting dog begging to play catch, we can’t imagine our lives without them.
This issue celebrates the bond we have with those four-legged members of our family. Emmy Award-nominated local TV news reporter Stephanie Langston shares her furry pal with us, as do several pet-loving teachers from neighborhood elementary and middle schools.
August also means back to school, and back to sports, so we take an in-depth look at kids and concussions. Unfortunately, concussions have become such a buzzword lately, so we help you try to understand what it means when your kid comes home with one.
Essentially, two of my very favorite topics are covered in the pages of this issue—pets and kids, including one of my own, pictured here—so I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had putting it together!
