March 2017 Lifestyle Letter

I’m Christian Houston and I’m the new publisher of Franklin Lifestyle. I have an extremely talented 14-year-old son who makes his mom proud! And I’m grateful to be able to raise him in such a warm and welcoming community with excellent schools.

This has been a lifelong dream of mine to start a publication and to get out into my community to make a difference. After all, that is what this life is supposed to be about, right?

With that said, this is an honor to have a presence in your home and to share the incredible stories each month from around your neighborhood, across town and throughout the area.

Here’s a little about my background.

I attended MTSU where I studied photo journalism and dabbled in aerial photography, shooting out of small Cessnas. I developed my film in a dark room. Some of you may remember film from years gone by! Later I went to work for global luxury cosmetic lines, and found my passion in helping to bring out the inner beauty and passion in my clients.

I have worked in publishing, marketing and for manufacturers that produce high-end, print production equipment. That was an experience that had a profound influence on me. It taught me the power of print media. It helped me grasp the power of print on so many levels and it became my new passion.

Don’t get me wrong; we live in a digital world and, like you, I rely on my phone, tablet and laptop to get me through the day.

But there will always be a place for print in our world. Personally, I’m in a book club where reading enables me to stay connected with my closest friends. Others may find their print passion in the local library while others prefer a counter at the coffee shop. My point is this: there is a personal quality to holding a printed publication in your hands that a touchscreen cannot match.

My goal is to bring you inspiring and motivating content. Whether it’s for 30 minutes one evening, or a resource you come back to several times a month, we want Franklin Lifestyle to be a publication you enjoy reading and look forward to receiving.

I am so grateful to have this opportunity. I look forward to meeting you and I invite your feedback and suggestions.
